Do this where the wind is not whipping around you. Take and run your engine until warm. Stop the engine. Take out your air filter and check it to be sure it is clean. Check the screen for oil that maybe collecting from the chamshaft breather hose which allows oil/goop to drip down inside the air box were it is supposedly vaporized by the carb.(and also really gums up the carb and can spray oil on the back side of your filter causing the filter to plug up. Take a rag and wipe down the inside of the air box. Remove any large particles. Reach inside the box behind were the air filter would go and check at the bottom of air box for oil/goop wipe it out and check your drain plug coming from the bottom of the air box pull off the plug and let it drain. Put the plugh back on. Once the air box is all cleaned out start your engine and take the long extension tube that comes with the can of carb. cleaner and blast the carb a few times while at the same time keep reving the engine not allowing the engine to starve and die. The carb. intake port will suck up the the cleaner but try and get the tube up inside the opening of the intake port to ensure adequate cleaning(when you are finished and remove the drain plug again some carb. cleaner will be drained out). Make sure you don't keep the cover off the air box with the filter out to long while your engine is running. You do not want to suck up anything from the outside atmosphere that might do damage to your carb. **Before using the carb.cleaner and after you have removed the air filter and cleaned out the box put the cover back on and see if your idle does not improve. If it does you know you have a dirty air filter.** Either way still spray some carb. cleaner up inside the carb. Sometimes jets can get plugged you know or filters.
